Genre-bending American musician Leon Redbone dies at 69

AMERICAN Musician Leon Redbone, known for reviving pre-World War II musical styles with his own twist, died on May 30 at age 69, according to a statement on his website. “It is with heavy hearts we announce that early this morning, May 30 2019, Leon Redbone crossed the delta for that beautiful shore at the age of 127,“ read the statement written in the sly style of the musician known for his mysterious persona. “He departed our world with his guitar, trusty companion Rover, and a simple tip of his hat,“ it continued. R. Kelly charged with new felony sex assault, abuse claims

GRAMMY -winning singer R. Kelly was charged on Thursday with 11 new felony counts of sexual assault and abuse that could, if he is convicted, send the R & B singer to prison for 30 years, the Chicago Sun Times reported. Kelly was indicted by a Cook County Grand Jury on four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual assault by force and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, documents posted on the newspaper’s website showed. He was also indicted on three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against a victim between the ages of 13 to 16, according to the documents. THE WARNER Bros. and Amazon Studios adaptation of Donna Tartt’s bestselling novel stars Nicole Kidman and Ansel Elgort. The film is directed by John Crowley ( Brooklyn ), and also stars Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Wilson, Denis O’Hare, Finn Wolfhard, Aneurin Barnard and Oakes Fegley. Donna Tartt’s coming-of-age novel received the 2014 Pulitzer Prize and the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction. The screenplay was written by Oscar nominee Peter Straughan. The plot follows Theodore “Theo” Decker (played by Fegley when younger and Elgort when older), whose mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art when he is 13. While escaping the debris, he takes with him a tiny Dutch Golden Age painting by Carel Fabritius called The Goldfinch, which becomes a source of hope for him as his life changes dramatically. Rolling Stone Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese This Netflix documentary will focus on Bob Dylan’s legendary “Rolling Thunder Revue” tour, which took place between 1975 and 1976. Joan Baez, Roger McGuinn and Rambin’ Jack Elliott were among the performers from the tour, along with one-off guests as Ringo Starr and Patti Smith. The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, will feature a rare on-camera interview with Dylan – as well as other participating artists. The majority of the interviews were conducted by Dylan’s longtime manager Jeff Rosen.
